Meet Yemi Salau

Yemi Salau has been residing in Balch Springs for over 14 years and is happily married to his beautiful wife, Imma. He is blessed with a lovely daughter.

Over the years, he have served on various boards and committees such as the Economic development board type B (as vice president), keep Balch Springs beautiful (as a member), city charter review board (as a former commissioner), The community Emergency Response Team (CERT)(Member) and Spring ridge HOA (as a board member).

Furthermore, he possesses over ten years of leadership experience managing federal projects with the US ARMY(LMP), US Navy (NAVSUP), and other fortune 500 companies.

He has also volunteered for more than fifteen years for several non-profits and charities and has been recognized with numerous certificates of appreciation from the Mayor, City Manager and neighborhood service managers for my invaluable volunteering services.

Additionally, he is a mentor to many individuals seeking to transition into the IT field and frequently participates as a guest speaker on several IT webinars.

He is currently seeking re-election as councilman representing place 7 in Balch Springs City council in the forthcoming May 3rd, 2025 City council election.

  • Secured a $4 million investment for the SMT Road Improvement Project.
  • Advocated for and delivered competitive salaries for our Police and Fire Departments.
  • Launched the Elam Road Corridor “Balch Springs Downtown” Project.
  • Supported the Safe Routes to School Capital Improvement Project.
  • Preserved the City’s 4th of July Celebration, ensuring this tradition continues.
  • Advanced the Alexander Village Mixed-Use Development, bringing new energy to our local economy.
  • Helped attract new businesses and retail to the city.
  • Delivering a new traffic light at Mercury Rd & Canyon Ridge Dr to improve safety and traffic flow.
  • Parking lot and soccer field upgrades at Woodland Park
  • Delivered lighting, fence replacement, and field leveling for Irwin Park’s baseball field and tennis courts.
  • Improved Guy Berry Park’s walking trail.
  • Upgraded Luedeke Park’s splash pad.
  • Installing new playground equipment at Oakridge Park.
